How to choose the best salon software in India
There is no single best. There is the one that gets your tax right, your team will actually use, and you can walk away from if it disappoints you.

Which is the best salon software in India?
No single product is best for every salon, and a page claiming otherwise is selling something. The decision turns on four things: whether tax is computed line by line, whether your team can bill on it without training, what happens to your records if you leave, and whether the price still makes sense in your busiest month.
Start with the bill, because that is the part with consequences
Everything else on a shortlist is a preference; the invoice is the one artefact a third party may eventually read. Software written for markets without a split tax tends to apply one percentage to a total, which is wrong the moment a bill carries a service at one rate and a retail item at another. Ask any vendor to produce a demo bill containing both, with a discount applied, and read what it did rather than what the brochure says it does.
- Does it compute tax per line, or once on the total?
- Does it distinguish an intra-state split from an inter-state single charge?
- Can one category be priced inclusive of tax and another exclusive?
- Is a discount applied before tax, which is where it legitimately belongs?
- Is the tax charged stored on the invoice, so a later rate change cannot rewrite last year?
The second test is whether the counter will actually use it
Software abandoned three months in is more expensive than software never bought, and the reason is almost never the feature list. It is that billing a customer took nine taps instead of three, so the busiest person in the salon quietly went back to the old machine. Run the test with the person who will really do it, at the counter, on the device they will really hold, and count the taps for the most common transaction in your salon rather than the most impressive one in the demo.
- Time a walk-in bill end to end, on a real phone or the actual counter screen
- Try it with somebody who did not sit through the sales call
- Check what happens when the internet drops mid-bill
- Ask how a mistake is corrected once a bill has been raised
Ask what leaving looks like, before you join
The question a vendor least wants at the start is the one worth most later, and a straight answer to it tells you more about a company than any feature. Your customer list, your billing history and your stock records are yours, and the practical test of that is whether you can obtain them in a usable form without asking permission. A product confident about retaining you on merit will answer plainly; hesitation is itself the answer.
- Can you export customers, invoices and stock yourself, without raising a request?
- In what format, and does it include the history or only the current state?
- Who owns the phone number your customers message, you or the vendor?
- If bookings come through a vendor marketplace, whose customers are they on the way out?
Read the pricing model, not the headline number
Two products at similar advertised prices can differ by several times over a year, because the model matters more than the figure. A percentage of bookings scales with your success, a per-user licence penalises hiring, and a per-branch fee is the honest one to check before you open a second location. Work out what each option costs at the volume you expect in twelve months, not the volume you have this month.
- Flat subscription, per user, per branch, or a share of what you bill?
- What does adding a member of staff cost — nothing, or another licence?
- What does a second location cost, exactly?
- Which features sit behind a higher tier you will inevitably need?
- Is payment processing charged separately, and by whom?
Where Salvoro fits, and where it is the wrong answer
It suits an owner-run salon or a small chain in India that wants the diary, the bill, the customer record and the follow-up to be one system, with tax handled properly and a flat price that does not move with turnover. It is the wrong answer for anyone who needs a marketplace to bring them customers, who needs accounting rather than billing, or who runs a clinic where structured treatment records and consent are the point. Those are not roadmap gaps; they are decisions.
- Right: a single salon or a small chain that already has its own customers
- Right: a business where GST on mixed service and retail bills has to be correct
- Wrong: anyone expecting the software itself to generate new bookings
- Wrong: anyone needing profit-and-loss accounting or return filing
- Wrong: a clinic requiring structured treatment notes and consent records
Common questions
- Why does this page not rank the products?
- Because we sell one of them. A ranking produced by an interested party tells you about the party, not the products, and it goes stale the moment a competitor ships something. Criteria you can apply yourself keep working after this page stops being updated.
- How much should a salon in India expect to pay?
- It varies by an order of magnitude depending on the model rather than the quality. The useful exercise is not finding the cheapest headline figure but projecting each option at next year's volume — a percentage of bookings and a flat fee can look identical today and differ enormously twelve months on.
- Is it worth switching mid-year?
- Usually yes, if the tax treatment on your current bills is wrong, because every month of waiting adds to what has to be explained later. If the current system merely irritates you, a quieter season is a kinder time to move than the middle of the wedding rush.
- How long should a trial actually be?
- Long enough to bill real customers on it, which usually means weeks rather than an afternoon. A demo shows you the software working; only your own catalogue, your own staff and a genuine Saturday show you whether it works for you. Salvoro's trial runs thirty days without a card for that reason.
What it doesn’t do
Worth knowing before you start, not after.
- This page names no competitors and scores no rivals. We cannot verify another product's current behaviour, and a comparison table written by an interested party is worth exactly what it costs to produce.
- The criteria here are ones Salvoro does not win outright. On marketplace-driven bookings and on accounting it is plainly the wrong tool, and the section above says so.
- Nothing here is tax or legal advice. The billing questions are the ones to ask; the answers that apply to your business are for your accountant.
- No customer counts, ratings, awards or uptime figures appear anywhere on this site, so none should be inferred from its absence of them.
